Our intention is to ensure your project runs like clockwork. For that to happen, it is critical that all the information is put together in a concise and holistic manner from the outset, with all elements fitting together like wheels of a fine watch.
Project Brief
With a carefully crafted approach, underpinned by our extensive experience within the design and construction sector, we will prepare a tender pack for design services:
- Interview the Client at their convenience, setting out their project goals and aspirations, including detailed design elements performance expectations.
- Interrogate and appraise the property, assess the current potential and challenges against the vision.
- Source third party information relevant to the property and project aspirations, essential for the endeavour to come.
- Compile all gathered information into a concise and easy to follow pack, formulating a robust foundation for the project team to follow, a tender pack for the design services.
Feasibility and Guide
Being in the know up front puts the Client in control, and makes the decision to move ahead with the overall project more decisive, efficient and enjoyable. During the consultations, we will:
- Inform the Client about the project process one is about to embark on and what to expect.
- Advise on how to prepare and what can be done beforehand to ensure a smoother experience.
- Compile a high level feasibility assessment based on gathered project data.
Team Selection
Upon completion of the document and information exchange, the Client is ready to approach members of the design team, and/or construction. Where requested, we will:
- Compile a suitable selection for the lead designer or wider team.
- Vet options and mutually agree a shortlist of preferred consultants.
- Provide consultants with the Project Brief Specification and carefully crafted designer questionnaire; lead the submission process and address queries received from the bidding designers.
- Scrutinise submissions, review programmes and competence, organise interviews with the selected team.
- Compile a report on the returns and findings, with a substantiated appointment recommendation for the Client.
Whether team selection is implemented by the Client themselves, their representatives, or with the involvement of SouthwaterDC, our
design services tender information pack will ensure more accurate and comparable bids, with fees less prone to fluctuation during the design process. It will also ensure that what the Client wants, is included and recorded for all to follow. Refer to Our Approach section for more information.
Support
Although SouthwaterDC's main services relate to the pre- and initial stages of the project, we remain available in the background on an ad hoc basis where:
- The Client might seek clarification or opinion on potential concerns during the project process.
- It becomes beneficial to receive advise behind the scenes, lending a second pair of eyes whilst providing comfort in the process.
- An impartial resolution is needed to a project related conundrum to ascertain the best way forward.
- Having third party's unbiased advice might assist in maintaining healthy and working Client/designer/ contractor relationships.
Should continuous support be desired through the design and construction process, and depending on the complexity of the project, we will advise on the benefits of a project manager. We're happy to provide recommendations for such services from third parties and discuss the advantages of said professionals.
